Heart Health Screening

Are you at risk for heart disease? PinnacleHealth offers a comprehensive screening program to monitor blood pressure, cholesterol and other risk factors. According to the American Heart Association, regular screening for heart disease risk should begin at age 20.

Tests include:

  • Body mass index
  • Waist circumference
  • Pulse
  • Cholesterol profile — including HDL, LDL, triglycerides and glucose

More frequent screenings are needed by people at higher risk, including those who:

  • Are between ages 35 – 70 (men) and 40 – 70 (women)
  • Smoke
  • Don’t exercise
  • Have uncontrolled stress
  • Are diabetic
  • Have high blood pressure (above 140/90)
  • Have high cholesterol
  • Are at least 10 pounds overweight
  • Women who are postmenopausal women and not on estrogen replacement therapy
  • Have a family history of high cholesterol, heart disease or high blood pressure
