At any time, the PinnacleHealth CardioVascular Institute is involved in more than 50 clinical trials for cardiac care and nearly 20 for vascular disease. These studies examine new treatments, devices and medications for a variety of heart and vascular conditions.
PinnacleHealth CardioVascular Institute was responsible for bringing carotid stent procedures to PinnacleHealth Harrisburg Hospital, which has become one of the country's premier carotid and peripheral vascular interventional centers. The first carotid stent was placed in July 2001 and since then, through various clinical study protocols, hundreds of these life-saving procedures have been performed.
