Heart, Vascular & Lung Care

Our team of experienced healthcare professionals will assist patients in achieving their goals on their journey to a healthier way of life.

Exercise therapy sessions are scheduled three times a week in a supervised exercise area. The patient is closely supervised while performing an exercise program, which is designed specific to the patient. The patient's exercise program might include the use of equipment, such as, stationary bicycles, treadmills, steps and arm weights.

Education programs will help the patient learn more about their lung condition and how to improve their health. The patient and their family will meet regularly with a member of the rehabilitation team to discuss their progress.

The initial program may last up to three months. Ongoing programs are also available.

What are the benefits?

As a result of the rehabilitation program, the patient can expect to see the following positive benefits:
  • An increase in daily energy and activity level
  • An increase in knowledge of lung problems and how to manage these problems
  • A decrease in the number of hospitalizations
  • A reduction in anxiety and a better outlook on life

Referrals

You must have a written referral from your physician to enter the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program. A pulmonary function test and other tests may be necessary to determine your current health conditions before you begin the program.
