Heart, Vascular & Lung Care

Our team of experienced healthcare professionals will assist patients in achieving their goals on their journey to more heart-healthier way of life.

Exercise therapy sessions are scheduled three times a week in a supervised exercise area. The patient is closely supervised while performing an exercise program, which is designed specific to the patient. The patient's exercise program might include the use of equipment, such as, stationary bicycles, arm ergometry, treadmills, steps and arm weights and pulleys. Their program may include resistive training.

Education programs will help the patient learn more about their heart condition and how to manage their risk factor(s) leading towards improved health. The patient and their family will meet regularly with a member of the rehabilitation team to discuss their progress.

Recent evidence shows that those attending 18 to 24 sessions receive maximum benefit.

What are the benefits?

As a result of the rehabilitation program, the patient can expect to see the following positive benefits:
  • An increase in exercise and activity tolerance
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Alter blood cholesterol
  • Reduce body fat
  • Assist in smoking cessation
  • Enhance sense of well-being and increase self-confidence
  • A decrease in the number of hospitalizations
  • A reduction in anxiety and a better outlook on life
